In scientific inquiry, the saying “seeing is believing” underscores the importance of visualization in understanding complex phenomena.
Given the three-dimensional (3D) nature of biological tissues, we must employ imaging techniques that are 3D to study them comprehensively. Our previous work has demonstrated that 3D imaging of immunostained biopsies surpasses traditional 2D methods in accurately staging tumors and identifying cancer stem cell niches. Recently, we have developed an innovative method capable of studying RNAs with 3D imaging in intact mouse brains. Spatial 3D mapping of RNAs in tissue volumes has previously not been possible and offers new opportunities to study biological and medical phenomena.
